Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of business-critical software applications. In this role, you will be responsible for validating software solutions from both a technical and functional perspective, supporting development teams throughout the full testing lifecycle, and contributing to continuous quality improvements. You will collaborate closely with analysts, developers, and engineers within a multidisciplinary software delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the overall test strategy.
- Review business requirements and functional analysis documents.
- Design, execute, and maintain test cases, test scenarios, and test plans.
- Perform functional, non-functional, integration, qualification, and end-to-end testing with external stakeholders.
- Track, document, and follow up on defects, issues, and test results.
- Develop and maintain automated test cases across API and UI layers.
- Support project teams in estimating testing efforts and defining test approaches.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, methodologies, and deliverables.
- Assist end users during acceptance testing activities.
Required Experience & Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in software testing, including both manual and automated testing.
- Proven experience with:
- Manual testing
- API testing
- Test strategy development
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies and best practices (ISTQB certification is considered an advantage).
- Experience testing:
- Java-based services
- Web services
- REST APIs
- Proxy services
- XML, XSD, and WSDL standards
- Experience analysing and modelling complex business processes and workflows.
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Jira
- Xray
- ReadyAPI
- Playwright
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Knowledge of Groovy scripting or similar scripting languages.
- Familiarity with public sector or government-related systems is considered a plus.
Soft Skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English or French and English, with a basic understanding of the third language.
