Still sending your invoices as PDFs or on paper? From 1 January 2026, that will no longer be an option for B2B transactions in Belgium. The government is introducing mandatory e-invoicing via the Peppol network for all VAT-registered businesses, including freelance consultants working as sole traders or through limited companies.

This new regulation affects a wide range of professionals: from HR, finance, and business consultants to IT, marketing, and legal freelancers. If you invoice other VAT-registered businesses in Belgium, you’ll need to switch to structured, electronic invoicing.
