Our client is looking for a System Design Engineer.
As a Senior System Design Engineer, you bring over 5 years of technical system experience to deliver high-quality engineering services. You are responsible for translating business and technical requirements into robust system designs, validating compliance, and supporting deployment. You play a key role in optimizing performance, managing capacity, and driving innovation across IT infrastructure and system software.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Design & Evaluation
- Translate business and technical requirements into system designs.
- Evaluate design benefits, trade-offs, and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Validate design compliance and support deployment to ensure requirements are met.
2. Technical Problem Solving
- Use development tools to address technical and business challenges.
- Tackle issues related to technology evolution, capacity management, and performance optimization.
- Perform complex incident resolution and root cause analysis.
3. Innovation & Documentation
- Propose innovative ideas to improve existing systems, processes, or services.
- Maintain and update technical documentation to ensure knowledge continuity.
4. Application & Vendor Management
- Act as a bridge between end-users and third-party software vendors.
- Maintain and support applications such as Fusion, Fidessa, and UL Bridge (used for market order placement and feedback).
- Perform upgrades, configuration tweaks, and production monitoring.
- Analyze and resolve incidents, including root cause analysis.
5. Project & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with colleagues and project teams on solution development.
- Contribute to both technical and functional analysis from a business perspective.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
On-Call Responsibility
- Be available for on-duty support for the systems under your responsibility when required.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in system software and IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with FIX protocol is a plus (not mandatory).
- Experience with software integration and system analysis.

Qualifications

- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
