Our client is looking for a Senior Project Manager.
Description
The Ortelius project was initiated to develop a new GIS (Geographical Information System) platform to replace an outdated legacy GIS system that will soon no longer be supported.
GIS is primarily used to manage the geographical information of the electrical network and assets, combined with various layers (e.g., roads, buildings, waterways, vegetation, seabed structure, cadastral parcels, etc.). The assets and network structure are maintained in several master data systems (e.g., custom applications, SAP), each with its own interface to the GIS system.
The Ortelius project consists of several tracks:

Migration Track:
- Transfer geographical data from the legacy system to the new GIS platform.
- Migrate master data (cables and lines) from the legacy system to the master data system.

Interface Track:
- Build and coordinate interfaces with the various master data systems in collaboration with different teams.

Technical Track:
- Develop and configure the GIS platform (based on ESRI technology); this track is executed by an external vendor.
The Ortelius Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end coordination across all tracks and involved teams, ensuring successful delivery of all project artifacts and implementation of changes within operational teams.
The Project Manager reports directly to the Program Manager of the overarching program (which also includes delivery of various master data systems) and to the business owner.
Additional Requirements
- Preferably holds an engineering or master’s degree with strong IT affinity
- Extensive experience as an IT or business project manager, including team management
- Minimum of 10 years of proven experience delivering medium to large IT projects in complex environments with multiple stakeholders, in collaboration with external software vendors
- Professional proficiency in English is required
- Strong command of Dutch or French, with working knowledge of the other language considered a strong asset
- Experience with GIS systems is a plus
- Familiarity with one or more project management methodologies
- Willingness to establish a clear (waterfall) structure in a deadline-driven context
- Coordination across tracks (including external parties) and budget monitoring
- Interest in the energy sector
- Strong sense of responsibility and organizational talent
- Excellent communication skills with assertiveness and customer orientation, both internally and externally
- Strong team collaboration and problem-solving abilities
