Purpose of the Role

The Test Analyst is responsible for drafting, coordinating, and executing a test plan, possibly in collaboration with other test analysts, in order to ensure thorough acceptance testing of new or modified programs and software. These acceptance tests are intended to guarantee that the final production deployment of the new software can be carried out with high quality and without errors. Focus on hands-on work, not test coordination!


Key Responsibilities

1. Drafting a Test Plan
The Test Analyst is responsible for creating a test plan:

  • Defining the scope of the test project

  • Performing risk analysis related to testing

  • Determining the test strategy (stakeholders – who, test levels – when, quality attributes – what)

  • Defining test clusters

  • Developing the test approach (RRBT: Risk Requirements Based Testing)

  • Determining the test environment and infrastructure

  • Setting up the test organization

  • Preparing the test planning

  • Validating acceptance criteria

2. Test Preparation / Analysis
Based on the requirements and functional analysis, the Test Analyst prepares and analyzes the tests, and executes them, either independently or together with testers from the operations organization for system and acceptance testing, including:

  • Executing (re)tests

  • Logging defects

  • Checking and analyzing test results

  • Assessing and reporting findings

  • Validating requirements and functional design

  • Preparing test cases, including test data

  • Executing (re)tests

  • Supporting and guiding testers

3. Coordinating Test Execution
The Test Analyst ensures the coordination of test execution:

  • Monitoring the progress of the test plan

  • Explaining test activities to testers and following up on their execution

  • Ensuring activities are carried out qualitatively and quantitatively according to agreements

  • Reporting test progress, including coverage and number of defects


Profile

Languages

  • Dutch: native

  • French: at least good understanding; speaking is a strong asset

  • English: required (understanding, speaking, reading, writing)

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a similar role

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Test Analyst on Mainframe

  • Experience with functional testing

  • Experience in the insurance sector, preferably in life insurance

  • Experience with a test management tool, preferably Zephyr

  • Experience with a defect management tool, preferably JIRA

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Proactive attitude

  • Strong commitment

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with TOSCA (test automation)

  • Experience with Enterprise Architect

  • Experience working with releases (process and environment)

  • Experience with output systems

  • Experience with archiving systems
