Our client is looking for a System Engineer (Domain Expert)
Project Description
The IT Infrastructure department is looking for a System Engineer (Domain Expert) to join the application team. This team is responsible for:
- Deploying all in-house developed applications in acceptance and production environments
- Managing system architecture
- Capacity planning
- Performance tuning of core shared applications and middleware (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, RabbitMQ)
Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage infrastructure for in-house developed applications in acceptance and production environments (including Windows IIS & SQL-based systems)
- Participate in design and architectural discussions for new application deployments
- Analyze requirements, drive design, and oversee setup/deployment of applications
- Interface with technical clients to clarify requests and provide solutions
- Provide escalated troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system issues
- Configure F5 load balancing VIPs for web applications and optimize overall system performance
- Support implementations of core applications: RabbitMQ, Redis Cache, and other shared technologies
- Provide optimal 2nd/3rd level support (interface with Microsoft and other third parties)
- Maintain documentation for system architectures and operational policies
- Participate in the duty role (24/7, 1 week every 6 weeks)
Requirements
- Fluent in English and either French or Dutch (English is mandatory for documentation and international meetings)
- Recent experience in system administration and support on Windows Server (2012–2022)
- Knowledge of Linux distributions (preferably RedHat) is a plus
- Proven knowledge of IIS management, website deployments, and system integration
- Experience with PowerShell and scripting in Windows and Linux environments (Bash/Python)
- In-depth knowledge of MS-SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, NEO4J or Redis Cache is a plus (on-site coaching/training will be provided)
- Strong understanding of network protocols, VLANs, DNS, proxies, firewalls, and network load balancing
- Strong understanding of security: passwords, ciphers, secret keys, TLS/SSL protocols, and encryption methods

Practical Information
- Location: Brussels (Schaerbeek), with occasional travel to Berlin (travel expenses covered)
- Telework: 60% remote, 40% on-site
- Duty role: 24/7, 1 week every 6 weeks
- Driver’s license and car required (for duty role)

- Duration: 1 year (extendable)
