Our client is looking for a Technical Expert
Program Overview
Our client is currently executing a data center transition program to directly manage the housing contracts. Today, these contracts are handled through an external intermediary, but going forward, the company will establish direct contractual relationships with the data center providers.
This transition involves a controlled relocation of existing infrastructure to new locations within the same data centers. The focus is on business continuity, technical stability, and a minimal-change approach — only essential updates will be implemented, while obsolete or unsupported components will be replaced. The program covers the domains of datacenter, networking, network security, servers, storage, and virtualization.
Role Purpose
The Technical Expert will support the internal infrastructure teams in designing,
configuring, and validating the technical solution for the data center transition. This includes hands-on configuration, testing, and documentation of the target environment, but excludes physical installation or device movement inside the data centers. The expert will collaborate closely with the internal technical lead to refine and validate the architecture, configurations, and migration approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and validate technical solutions for servers, storage, and virtualization (VMware).
- Support migration preparation and validation testing of the new setup.
- Configure and document infrastructure components in collaboration with internal teams.
- Produce technical documentation such as solution designs, configuration guides, and migration procedures.
- Advise on backup and recovery strategy, considering future target solutions.
- Ensure high-quality knowledge transfer to internal teams.
- Contribute to the minimal-change strategy — stability first, no unnecessary redesigns.
Required Skills & Experience
- Senior-level profile with at least 10 years of experience in data center infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in:
- VMware: vSphere, vCenter, ESXi
- Storage: Dell PowerStore, NetApp
- Servers: Dell PowerEdge, HP ProLiant
- Backup: current solution StoreOnce, target solution to be defined
- Operating systems: Windows and Linux
- Proven experience in solution design and implementation within enterprise environments.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to quickly adapt and contribute in a complex, high-stakes program environment.
Language & Work Mode
- French: preferred (internal technical lead is French-speaking)
- English: mandatory
- Dutch: considered an asset
- Work mode: hybrid (Brussels + remote), with occasional visits to data center sites.
