Our client is looking for a Senior Functional Designer IS Life
Context of the Mission / Objective(s) of the Job
The Information Systems (IS) Life division, responsible for delivering and maintaining systems and applications supporting the life business division is looking for a hands-on functional analyst with strong collaborative skills adapted to different stakeholders on projects (Business / IS / Testing team).
More precisely:
- Domain ELIA: Responsible for delivering and maintaining applications for subscribing new contracts and initiating modifications on existing contracts.
- Domain LISA: Responsible for the complete contract portfolio, including tariffs, management acts, funds and reserves calculations, daily Money-in (premiums) and Money-out (claims & settlements).
The back-end applications are developed using Cobol under Microfocus / SQL databases, and involve interaction with various technologies and teams for front-end, printing, or communication components.
Role Responsibilities
- Receive high-level functional requirements for setting up robust IT applications
- Analyze and design IT solutions (user interface, business logic, database architecture, etc.)
- Follow up on implementation and participate in testing
- Work autonomously and interact directly with the IS Project Manager to agree on scope and milestones
- Report progress to IS stakeholders
- Ability to review code and generate SQL on demand
Proven experience required: Functional analysis, user interface design, testing in an Insurance IT environment.
The candidate will work in a dynamic and innovative context, on up to 3 projects simultaneously, requiring strong organizational skills. He/she will join a young team and help shape solutions in a fast-growing domain.
Mission Period
- Start date: November 2025
- Duration: 12 months (extension possible depending on project evolution)

Level of Education Required
- Master or Engineer in IT or in a scientific domain with IT interest
- Bachelor with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical analysis

- Experience with Application Development of Administrative systems in an IT department
- Able to capture main topics in discussions with technical IT people
- Mastering MS Office tools
- Strong understanding of source code Cobol Microfocus and SQL server
Preferable:
- Web-based Client/Server systems with MF back-end (Cobol Microfocus / SQL server)
- Batch process experience
- Cobol Microfocus / SQL server programming experience

Functional Experience
Mandatory (Senior: 5–8 years):

- Translate business requirements into a structured IT solution while keeping a functional approach
- Help translate functional design into well-tailored technical design
- Prepare functional integration test cases based on requirements
- Test the product before delivery to users
- Analyze potential corrective actions
- Coordinate technical designers and programmers during implementation
- Work closely with the business to ensure the final solution fits their needs
- Actively support Project Leaders in project implementation
