Our client is looking for a Data Transmission Network Operator Service

Service Description

The Datacom team provides our client with a reliable and fault-tolerant communication network. The department’s responsibilities include:

  • Management of fixed and satellite telephony
  • Internet and WiFi connectivity
  • Network security
  • Management of various telecommunications platforms supporting remote operation and monitoring of high-voltage substations
  • Data collection, physical security, and communication with partner companies

To strengthen our Data Transport Network Operations Center (NOC) team, we are looking for a Data Transmission Network Operator. The goal is to ensure the proper functioning of the datacom network, handle incidents swiftly, and manage the planning (scheduled or unscheduled) of maintenance/repair of the Elia Data Transmission network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of all Datacom platforms
  • Analyze, resolve, and escalate problems in the Datacom network, collaborating with network architects, product owners, and/or external partners when needed
  • Contact stakeholders in case of network incidents, technical issues, or planned works to obtain additional information, confirm planning, or confirm resolution of incidents
  • Respond to all questions or requests from other teams/departments or third parties in daily operations, planning, and projects
  • Execute administrative tasks to maintain the quality of Datacom platforms, including documentation
  • Actively contribute to internal/external process improvements and knowledge sharing within the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics, ICT, or telecommunications, or equivalent technical experience
  • Practical and operational knowledge of modern LAN and WAN networks such as:
    • SDH
    • DWDM
    • IP/MPLS
    • VOIP
    • Their management systems
  • Experience as a Helpdesk Officer or Network Operations Engineer is an advantage
  • Fluent in Dutch or French, with good knowledge of the other language and a good working knowledge of English (absolute must)
  • Motivated to continuously learn and broaden technical knowledge of Datacom networks
  • Ability to work independently and methodically, set priorities, and demonstrate responsibility and urgency
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to assess impact and risks accurately and communicate effectively
  • Flexible and stress-resistant (tasks may be interrupted by urgent operational issues)

  • Work regime: Full-time
  • Location: Brussels
  • Onsite presence: 2 days per week required
  • Working hours: 07:30 – 16:00
