Our client is looking for a Strategic Portfolio Management Consultant
The Strategic Portfolio Management Consultant supports the organisation in translating strategic priorities into a coherent portfolio of initiatives and enables executive decision-making on investment priorities across the enterprise.
The role operates at enterprise level, ensuring that strategic objectives are reflected in the organisation’s portfolio of initiatives and that investment choices are aligned with value creation, risk exposure, organisational capacity, and strategic direction.
Rather than focusing on project execution, the role focuses on portfolio-level analysis, prioritisation, and strategic alignment, enabling leadership to make informed decisions about what initiatives should be prioritised, reshaped, or discontinued.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Portfolio Structuring
- Translate corporate strategy, transformation objectives, and enterprise architecture direction into a structured portfolio of initiatives.
- Identify overlaps, gaps, and dependencies across initiatives to ensure strategic coherence of the portfolio.
- Support the development of portfolio roadmaps aligned with long-term strategic priorities.
Portfolio Prioritisation & Investment Trade-Offs
- Support executive stakeholders in prioritising initiatives based on value, risk, and organisational capacity.
- Prepare portfolio scenarios and trade-off analyses to support investment decisions.
- Contribute to decisions regarding portfolio rebalancing, investment allocation, and initiative sequencing.
Executive Portfolio Governance
- Support Enterprise Portfolio Boards and Executive Committees by preparing decision-ready materials and strategic analyses.
- Provide insights on portfolio health, strategic alignment, and value delivery.
- Facilitate transparent decision-making by ensuring leadership has clear and reliable portfolio insights.
Portfolio Insights & Strategic Steering
- Develop and maintain portfolio-level indicators covering strategic value, risk exposure, progress, and capacity constraints.
- Enable data-driven strategic discussions by transforming portfolio data into clear insights for leadership.
- Identify emerging risks, structural bottlenecks, and opportunities across the enterprise portfolio.
Cross-Enterprise Alignment
- Ensure alignment between Strategy, Finance, Enterprise Architecture, IT, and Business Units when shaping the portfolio.
- Facilitate collaboration across domains to ensure strategic initiatives remain coherent and feasible.

- Proven experience with BI (analysis, data-visualisation & storytelling)
- Proven Experience with executive-level portfolio governance
- Proven Experience with presenting & reporting (storytelling)
- Proven Experience with a PPM tool

- Proven experience in the Belgian energy sector (electricity and/or gas) with direct involvement in core energy-market, grid operations, regulatory, or energy-transition initiatives

- Knowledge of Portfolio Management Frameworks: MoP, PfMP, SAFe lean
- Master’s degree in engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Sciences, or equivalent experience
