Our client is looking for: Senior Functional Analyst

Description

You will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects and play a key role in the functional and technical evolution of our software solutions. As part of this assignment, you will join the I‑ICT.211 Traffic Data Solutions team and work on projects that are crucial to the continuity and performance of the core business activities.

These projects involve the consolidation and distribution of information related to railway traffic management (pre‑processing, real‑time, post‑processing, back‑office) to B2B stakeholders, specifically:

Outside our organisation:

  • Railway companies operating or travelling on our network;
  • Foreign neighbouring infrastructure managers;
  • European platforms for the consolidation of railway information, such as RailNetEurope.

Within our organisation:

  • Real‑time visualisation of timetable changes for our signalling cabin staff;
  • Calculation of fees and invoicing for the use of our network by our customers;
  • Calculation of electricity consumption related to our activities;
  • Feeding expert systems such as Big Data.

You work on both new developments and on corrective and evolutionary maintenance of existing applications.

As a Senior Functional Analyst, you are responsible for analysing the needs of all stakeholders, both internal and external. You translate these needs into functional and technical specifications for our applications.

With your background in development, you work closely with the IT team, railway companies and other operational units.

Main tasks:

  1. Needs analysis: Identify and document business needs and requirements using various methods.
  2. Process optimisation: Analyse existing processes and propose improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  3. Functional specifications: Develop detailed functional specifications and requirements.
  4. Collaboration with the development team: Work closely with the development team to ensure that technical solutions meet business requirements.
  5. Testing and validation: Develop test cases and test scenarios; perform tests to verify that the application works correctly and meets the defined requirements.
  6. Impact analysis: Analyse the impact based on business requirements.

Possible assets:

  1. Demonstrable experience in conducting impact analyses based on business requirements.
  2. Demonstrable experience in writing functional and technical documents (work instructions, user guides).
  3. Knowledge of the railway industry.

Technical skills

  • Experience in business and functional analysis within IT projects using an Agile/Scrum methodology (L4: minimum 10 years' experience)
  • Experience with methods for collecting business requirements (L4: minimum 10 years' experience)
  • Experience with creating user stories based on analysis and specifications (L4: minimum 10 years' experience)
  • Experience with design and modelling techniques (UML, BPMN) (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience documenting functional requirements (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience creating TestCases and TestScenarios (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience with APIs and web services (REST, SOAP) (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience with an API testing tool (Postman or equivalent) (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience with an API design tool (Swagger or equivalent) (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience with web service security (JWT, OAuth, etc.) (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Java, .NET or Python) (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Experience with XML/XSD file formats, XPath query language and XSD contract design (L3: minimum 5 years' experience)
  • Language 1: French or Dutch (C2: highly complex mastery)
  • Language 2: French or Dutch (the other language) (B2: upper‑intermediate)
  • Language 3: English (C1: complex mastery)

Soft skills
