Our client is looking for a Monitoring Expert Dynatrace (Splunk)
Context
Our client is looking for a senior consultant with advanced Dynatrace or Splunk experience to reinforce the internal team to migrate the monitoring plateform from Splunk into Dynatrace.
To confirm that decision, the company will first start a pilote in 2027 with the migration of 2 applicative solutions in a End-to-End perspective into Dynatrace. If it is successful, an entire migration from Splunk to Dynatrace is foreseen on the next few years.
We look for a hands-on person that has advanced knowledge of monitoring requirement’s implementations in Dynatrace or Splunk ; and is also able to work in Splunk for implementation of monitoring needs – in order to help the actual Splunk’s team.
He will help the team to write the technical part of a “european Request For Project”
Description
A monitoring and alerting platform is implemented based on Splunk products.
This platform is built upon
- Splunk Enterprise,
- Splunk Enterprise Security and
- Splunk IT Service Intelligence.
- Coexisting Troubleshooting plateform
- Dynatrace is used only for troubleshooting purposes.
The company wants to reinforce its monitoring team, preferably with Dynatrace skills and having a Splunk experience
Our client is looking for an Expert to assist us with the monitoring and alerting, and that could help us to eventually migrate our monitoring plateform from Splunk to Dynatrace.
Responsibilities
Main activities are :
- Identification of KPIs to monitor infrastructure components such as
- Storage systems,
- Network components,
- Operating systems (Window and Linux),
- Virtual infrastructure,
- Servers, Databases, Time servers,
- Certificate infrastructure and Applications.
- Implementation of application monitoring based on KPIs delivered by the application teams.
- Configuration of the monitoring data’s gathering/retrieving (preferably in Dynatrace).
- Configure alerts and its associated events (sending mails, execution code, …)
- Configure dashboards
- Ready to enhance its Splunk’s knowledge in order to fullfill the company's expectations
- All configurations must be done according to best practices
The consultant will deliver work in the following areas:
Identification and documentation of monitoring requirements for infrastructure components and applications.
- Validation of the futur Dynatrace configuration and the monitoring we want to implement and propose eventual improvements to guarantee that our monitoring is aligned with best practices.
- Analyze, implement, test and deploy new monitoring requirements in Dynatrace or Splunk.
- Document the changes and maintain the existing documentation.
- Implement monitoring’s requirements in Splunk to support our monitoring’s team as long as both plateform will coexist.
- Analyze, implement, test and deploy new monitoring requirements in Splunk for simple/small requirements.
REQUIREMENT :
The company expects the following from the Splunk Engineer:
- Spunk engineer must be a senior profile with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role as described in this mission description.
- Experience with the implementation of monitoring requirements in Splunk for large companies with a lot of diverse technologies (especially in a virtualized context) is important
- Certification related to Dynatrace or Splunk is an advantage
- Proven experience with the documentation of monitoring requirements (service decompositions), the definition of monitoring KPIs per asset type and the implementation of monitoring requirements (preferably in Dynatrace)
- Proven experience with operational activities (preferably in Dynatrace)
- Advanced knowledge on data gathering’s configuration, alerting and creation of dashboards
- Very good understanding of the different infrastructure technologies and on how to monitor them correctly. The consultant must have advanced knowledge to define monitoring KPIs in an efficient way and configure them in the Monitoring system (Example: Define KPIs of NAS system or database systems to make sure that the system is healthy).
- Advanced knowledge on monitoring of Virtual infrastructure (SDDC [VxRail], Vmware, VRLI and VRNI) and integration of the Monitoring (Splunk or Dynatrace) with vCenter.
- Sufficient technical knowledge of Infrastructure components must be available to be able to configure the infrastructure components correctly for monitoring purposes.
- Advanced knowledge related to application’s monitoring.
- Experience with operational tasks preferably in Dynatrace and troubleshooting activities.
- Good communication, documentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of ITIL processes
- Proficiency in English; Native Dutch or French speaking; Understanding French and Dutch .
