Our client is looking for a Senior Functional Designer
Context of the mission / Objective(s) of the job
Information Systems (IS) Life is responsible for delivering and maintaining systems and applications that support the Insurance’s Life Business Division. IS Life is looking for a hands-on functional analyst with strong collaboration skills, able to adapt to different stakeholders across projects (Business, IS and Testing
teams). More specifically, within IS Life, Domain ELIA is responsible for delivering and maintaining applications used to subscribe new contracts and to initiate changes to existing contracts. Domain LISA is responsible for the overall contract portfolio, including tariffs, management acts, fund and reserve calculations, daily money-in (premiums) and money-out (claims and settlements), etc.
The back-end applications are developed in COBOL (Micro Focus) with SQL databases, and require interaction with various technologies and teams for front-end, printing and communication components.
In this role, the candidate will receive high-level functional requirements, analyse them and design robust IT solutions. The solution scope may cover assets such as the user interface, business logic and database architecture. The candidate will follow up the implementation of their designs and setup a test approach.
Working autonomously, they will interact directly with the IS Project Manager to agree on scope and milestones, and will report progress to IS stakeholders. The functional analyst should also be able to review source code when needed and to write SQL queries on demand.
Beyond project delivery, the candidate will support platform stability by monitoring and responding to production incidents and coordinating remediation efforts when needed.
Proven experience in functional analysis, user interface design and testing within an insurance IT environment is required.
The candidate will work in a dynamic and fast moving environment and may contribute to multiple projects at the same time, requiring strong organisational skills.

Level of education required
Master or Engineer in IT or in a scientific domain with IT interest.
Bachelor with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical analysis.

Objective of the job
Main objectives:
- Ensure the stability and operability of the (sub)application.
- Be in charge of translating business requirements into a structured IT solution while keeping a functional approach.
- Help translating this functional design into well-tailored technical design.
- Prepare functional integration test cases based on the requirements
- Test the product before delivery to the users
- Analyse potential corrective actions to be taken.
- Coordinate technical designers and programmers during implementation of functionalities
- Work closely with the business to ensure the final solution fits their needs.
- Actively support the Project leaders in the project implementation
