Senior Enterprise Architect

Our client is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to strengthen its IT Architecture team and help define, govern and continuously improve the enterprise architecture framework.

Description

The consultant will play a key role in shaping architecture governance, supporting strategic decision-making, aligning local delivery with platform guardrails, and ensuring that initiatives remain aligned with the enterprise architecture vision, principles and standards.

As Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for defining and improving the architecture governance framework, including principles, standards, policies, reference architectures and architectural decision workflows.

You will support the Head of IT Architecture in strategic studies and architectural evaluations, while also coaching other architecture roles across the organization. You will act as a bridge between Business, IT, Architecture, Infrastructure and delivery teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and continuous improvement of the architecture governance framework.
  • Facilitate Architecture Review Board processes, including decision packs, traceability and escalation paths.
  • Translate digital platform guardrails into practical guidance for local delivery teams.
  • Support strategic studies, evaluations and decision-making discussions.
  • Coach and guide other architecture roles across the organization.
  • Communicate application strategy and related processes to business and IT stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze business and IT gaps through surveys and landscape assessments.
  • Conduct cross-domain trade-off analyses using methods such as ATAM and CBAM.
  • Maintain and evolve the application portfolio together with application owners and stakeholders.
  • Maintain the enterprise architecture repository, including architecture decision records.
  • Validate architectural recommendations with senior business and IT management.
  • Manage the Architecture Vision Document and contribute to the enterprise-wide IT roadmap.
  • Ensure alignment between architecture processes, project portfolio management and IT service management.
  • Perform architecture alignment assessments at initiative kick-off and key milestones.
  • Conduct periodic architecture compliance reviews and escalate deviations where needed.
  • Define and govern enterprise data architecture standards, including modelling, integration and governance principles.
  • Propose a realistic roadmap to increase architecture maturity across the organization.

Required experience and skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an Enterprise Architecture role.
  • Proven experience facilitating Architecture Review Board sessions.
  • Experience producing architecture decision packs with clear traceability.
  • Strong understanding of IT processes and methodologies.
  • Practical experience with frameworks and standards such as TOGAF, ITIL, ArchiMate and Domain-Driven Design.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture patterns and platform governance.
  • Knowledge of guardrails, onboarding criteria and reference architecture adoption.
  • Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architecture.
  • Knowledge of Gartner architecture frameworks, such as TIME for Application Portfolio Management.
  • Experience with modelling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, SAP LeanIX or equivalent tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across business and IT.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Results-oriented, autonomous and pragmatic mindset.
  • Collaborative attitude with the ability to co-construct solutions across teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience in merger or acquisition contexts and transformation journeys.
  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering IT solutions in an Agile environment.
  • Experience within the Energy & Utilities sector.
  • Knowledge of French, Dutch or German.

Language requirements

  • English: mandatory for documentation, supplier interactions and meetings.
  • French, Dutch or German: considered a plus.

  • Location: Brussels
  • Onsite presence: 2 days per week by default
  • Work regime: Full-time
