Our client, a key player in the European energy sector, is looking for a Commercial Data & AI Lead to join its commercial team.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of energy markets, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will take ownership of the commercial data ecosystem, lead the development of machine learning solutions and drive the adoption of AI-enabled business processes that directly contribute to commercial performance.
Reporting to the Commercial Strategy & Performance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting a major international energy infrastructure asset with significant commercial impact, while working in a collaborative and highly international environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Platform & Analytics
- Own and continuously evolve the Commercial Data Warehouse and analytics ecosystem.
- Drive the development of dashboards, reporting and decision-support tools using Power BI and Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Translate business challenges into scalable data solutions delivering measurable business value.
- Coordinate developments between business stakeholders, ICT teams and external technology partners supporting a critical 24/7 operational environment.
- Deliver commercial insights, performance analyses and executive reporting for senior management and executive committees.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
- Act as Product Owner for the Azure-based Business Analytics & AI platform.
- Define and execute the roadmap for new AI capabilities, advanced analytics solutions and intelligent automation initiatives.
- Own and continuously improve machine learning forecasting models supporting commercial decision-making.
- Identify, assess and implement innovative AI use cases that optimize business processes and generate new business value.
- Collaborate with business experts, technology partners and academic institutions to bring advanced AI solutions into production.
Data Strategy & Governance
- Lead the company's Data Operating Plan and contribute to the long-term Data & AI strategy.
- Establish governance, ownership and documentation across the data landscape.
- Promote high standards of data quality, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, access management and audit requirements.
- Support the evolution of the Azure data platform, including architecture, monitoring, security and integration capabilities.
Required Experience
- Proven experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
- Experience within energy markets, utilities, financial services or another highly data-driven industry is considered a strong advantage.

- Master's degree in one of the following (or equivalent):

Languages
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
Contract Information
- Start: ASAP
- Initial contract: 12 months (extension expected)
- Working schedule: Monday to Friday
- Working model: Hybrid (1–2 days per week in the office)
- Location: Belgium preferred, although candidates based elsewhere may also be considered.
- Travel: Occasional travel between Belgium and the United Kingdom may be required.
