Our client is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to act as the key link between business stakeholders and IT teams. You will ensure that business needs are translated into effective, sustainable and future-ready solutions.
You will analyse business processes, gather and structure requirements, and support the design and implementation of solutions that improve operational efficiency and contribute to strategic objectives.
This position requires a continuous-improvement mindset. You remain curious, constructively challenge assumptions and avoid accepting existing practices simply because “it has always been done this way.” You work closely with business and IT stakeholders to design smarter and more effective processes.
Key Responsibilities
Business Process Modelling
You have a strong interest in business process modelling and understand its importance in creating clear, structured and effective organisations.
You understand the distinction between a business process and an application process and can:

Analyse end-to-end business processes.

Model business processes in a structured and effective manner.

Apply BPMN standards and methodology.

Ensure alignment between business processes and organisational objectives.

Analyse existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

Collaborate with the Business Architect to further improve the organisation’s business architecture.
You are confident in your approach and focus on expertise, clarity and practical value rather than buzzwords.
Information Modelling
Within the energy market, accurate information modelling is essential to ensure that complex information structures reflect actual business needs and support critical market processes.
You will be responsible for structuring and representing business concepts clearly and consistently.
Your responsibilities include:

Modelling information using UML class diagrams.

Introducing new business concepts when required.

Proposing clear and precise definitions.

Reviewing, challenging and refining existing business concepts.
-
Ensuring consistency and alignment across processes and systems.
-
Understanding the relationship between business capabilities, information ownership and information models.

Working in a structured and concise manner to maintain clarity.
Requirements Gathering and Analysis
You are responsible for identifying, clarifying, documenting and prioritising both functional and non-functional business and solution requirements.
You will work closely with stakeholders, the Product Owner and development teams within an Agile environment.
Your responsibilities include:

Facilitating workshops and stakeholder discussions.

Gathering and analysing business requirements.

Translating business needs into clear and actionable requirements.

Refining user stories and acceptance criteria.

Ensuring that requirements are understood and aligned with business objectives.

Supporting the Product Owner in defining, refining and prioritising the backlog.

Solution Design and Validation
You will collaborate closely with the Solution Architect while maintaining a clear understanding of the respective roles and responsibilities.
You will:

Work with the Solution Architect towards shared business and IT objectives.

Validate whether proposed solutions meet business requirements.

Constructively challenge solutions where necessary.

Ensure that solutions are sustainable, scalable and future-proof.

Represent and safeguard the business architecture throughout the solution design process.

Monitor whether the implementation remains aligned with business principles and strategic objectives.
Testing and Quality Assurance
Together with the Agile team, you will contribute to the definition and execution of testing activities to ensure that delivered solutions meet business requirements and quality expectations.
Your responsibilities include:

Writing clear and comprehensive test cases based on user stories and acceptance criteria.

Supporting or executing business acceptance testing.

Validating that delivered solutions meet functional and process requirements.
-
Participating actively in sprint reviews and defect-triage sessions.
-
Providing business input to prioritise defects and improvements.
-
Promoting a “test early, test often” mindset.
-
Encouraging continuous validation throughout the development lifecycle.

Ensuring traceability between requirements, acceptance criteria and test coverage.
Documentation
You take ownership of producing clear, structured and accurate documentation covering business processes, requirements and solution design.
You will also:

Ensure consistency, clarity and usability.

Promote documentation as an essential component of sustainable solutions.

Advise stakeholders on documentation standards and best practices.

Support the maintenance of high-quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
-
Between five and eight years of experience in business analysis and requirements documentation.
-
Strong understanding of business analysis methods and standards, including BABOK, UML and BPMN.

Good understanding of how business analysis contributes to software development.
-
Experience working in an Agile product environment is an advantage.
-
Knowledge of ArchiMate is an advantage.
-
Strong analytical skills and the ability to break down complex situations into clear and manageable components.
-
Strong collaborative mindset combined with a constructive and critical approach.

Ability to work effectively with stakeholders while respectfully challenging assumptions.

Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
-
Fluency in English and either Dutch or French, combined with a good working knowledge of the other national language.
