Focus of your contribution
You translate the company’s business strategy into an ICT architecture, with a focus on the “technological/infrastructure” dimension. Your Enterprise Architect colleagues do the same for the functional side, while you ensure the infrastructure is also ready to meet business needs. You therefore work closely with them and with your Infrastructure Architect colleagues, each of whom has specific expertise. You ensure that Brussels Airport Company’s technological choices are future-proof, scalable, and aligned across domains.
Key responsibilities and activities

Ensuring the set of technological standards remains up to date and evolves with the airport’s needs
- Facilitating interaction between stakeholders
- Preparing decision documents for Architecture Governance bodies
- Keeping relevant stakeholders (primarily within ICT) informed via documentation and communication

Making these standards and choices available to colleagues in a practical way for application in concrete projects
- For example, by providing standard input for procurement files (including the dimension of selecting the most suitable suppliers for BAC)
- Facilitating and contributing to the development of reference architectures

Personally contributing as one of the Infrastructure Architects to several projects to put the above points into practice
- Acting as an Infrastructure Architect within a project team and fulfilling that role
- Creating key project deliverables, such as the Technology Architecture for the specific project
- Applying standards/criteria in evaluating supplier proposals

Shaping/steering the long-term vision for infrastructure needs based on insights from the functional Digital Roadmap. Gaining knowledge of the current state and long-term airport objectives
- Acquiring insights into the Digital Roadmap, challenges faced by Service Manager colleagues, outstanding risks, and translating these into project ideas together with colleagues
- Monitoring roadmap progress and communicating about it to ensure timely decision-making
Job requirements and qualifications
Minimum education:
- Master’s degree in a technical field (ICT, engineering, etc.), or
- Master’s degree in a non-technical field supplemented with relevant ICT experience
Minimum experience:
- 10+ years, of which:
- At least 3 years in 2 different technological domains (e.g., on-premise hardware, connectivity, cloud environments, development environments, telecom, (I)oT, cybersecurity)
- At least 2 years in a role involving facilitation/collaboration aspects
Language skills: One of the national languages (Dutch at least at comprehension level) and English
Required knowledge:
- Architecture practices
- Ability to analyze (highly) complex business models and technical systems, apply architectural patterns, and translate them into system requirements, constraints, designs, and solutions
- Broad technological knowledge with a focus on ICT infrastructure dimensions
- Understanding of decision-making processes/governance bodies and how to provide the necessary materials/input for them
