Our client is looking for a proactive, analytical Data Engineer and Visualization Consultant with a strong interest in data and the energy sector.
The ideal candidate is a genuine “data geek” and “energy geek” who enjoys processing large datasets, developing reliable data solutions, and translating complex simulation results into clear and impactful visualizations.
You will join a team responsible for energy system and electricity market studies. You will support the improvement of its data management processes and help analyze and visualize large volumes of data generated by market and energy system simulations.
The assignment combines data engineering, data analysis, visualization, and the development of user-friendly interfaces.
Responsibilities

Improve the team’s data management processes

Set up and maintain data warehouses and data pipelines
-
Consolidate historical and simulation data in a structured data environment
-
Process, explore, and analyze large volumes of simulation output
-
Develop and maintain Python tools for data processing and analysis
-
Analyze outputs generated by ANTARES or other electricity market simulation and optimization tools
-
Create clear, insightful, and impactful visualizations in Power BI
-
Develop or support more advanced visualization interfaces using technologies such as React.js
-
Write and update scripts to transform simulation outputs into usable datasets and visuals
-
Develop scripts to identify inconsistencies in simulation input and output data
-
Compare the results of different studies with each other and with historical data
-
Critically analyze algorithmic and simulation results
-
Help identify key trends, anomalies, and relevant conclusions
-
Benchmark visualizations used in comparable European energy studies and organizations
-
Review and improve existing internal visualizations
-
Present proposed visualizations to stakeholders and management
-
Collect feedback and iteratively improve the visuals to ensure that they meet their intended purpose

Propose user-friendly interfaces that allow users to dynamically explore the data
-
Contribute to solutions that may eventually be shared publicly

Develop interfaces and integrations between data, simulation, and visualization tools
Technical Profile
-
At least three years of relevant professional experience
-
Strong Python development experience
-
Experience with data mining, data collection, data processing, and data analysis
-
Experience designing and implementing data warehouses and data pipelines
-
Strong experience with Power BI
-
Ability to create structured, intuitive, and business-relevant dashboards and visualizations
-
Experience processing and analyzing large datasets
-
Knowledge of data engineering principles and integrations between different tools

Experience with React.js is considered an asset
-
Experience with ANTARES is considered a strong asset

Experience with other economic dispatch, electricity market simulation, or optimization tools is also relevant

Familiarity with the input and output structures of simulation tools is an advantage

Basic knowledge of energy systems and electricity markets is required
