Our client is looking for an experienced F5 Networking and Security Engineer to support the design, implementation, administration, and lifecycle management of its critical application delivery and network security infrastructure.
The Datacom department is responsible for the organization’s data transport, IP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and telecommunications networks across administrative sites, data centers, dispatching offices, and operational locations.
The network environment includes:
- Data transport networks supporting corporate IP and general IT services
- Fiber and copper infrastructure, supplemented by leased connections
- Technologies such as PDH, SDH, DWDM, and IP/MPLS
- IP, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi networks supporting telephony and core business operations
- Direct IP connections with electricity transmission, distribution, and generation organizations
- Internet connectivity
- Network security services based on firewalls, DMZs, VPN concentrators, and load balancers
- Networks connecting high-voltage substations and data centers for remote surveillance, telephony, meter readings, and operational communications
- Connections with other Transmission System Operators for remote surveillance, protection, and telephony
The F5 BIG-IP platform is a critical component of the data center infrastructure and is extensively used for application load balancing, high availability, traffic management, and security services.
Responsibilities
- Design load-balancing and high-availability architectures
- Design and implement F5 BIG-IP solutions for application delivery and network traffic management
- Configure and administer virtual servers, pools, nodes, monitors, iRules, SSL profiles, and traffic policies
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates, SSL offloading, encryption, traffic inspection, and reporting
- Deploy and manage Advanced Web Application Firewall policies where required
- Integrate authentication and access management solutions using F5 APM and enterprise identity services
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and service optimization
- Support incident, problem, and change management processes
- Carry out security patching, software upgrades, and lifecycle management of the F5 infrastructure
- Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot application delivery, connectivity, security, and performance issues
- Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
- Transfer knowledge to internal stakeholders and operational teams
- Collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, service providers, and other departments
- Respond flexibly to urgent operational incidents and changing priorities
Profile
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics, ICT, telecommunications, or an equivalent level of technical experience
- Strong conceptual, practical, and operational knowledge of IP networking
- Experience managing complex, multi-site network and data center environments
- Advanced expertise in F5 BIG-IP solutions
- Extensive experience designing and implementing F5 solutions in complex enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of load balancing, high availability, SSL/TLS, traffic management, and application delivery
- Experience with F5 technologies such as LTM, APM, AWAF, iRules, and SSL profiles
- Strong understanding of IT security concepts and architectures
- Knowledge of enterprise firewall technologies such as Check Point and Palo Alto
- Experience with troubleshooting, performance optimization, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
- Able to work independently, methodically, and accurately
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to assess operational and security risks
