Business Process Analyst

Our client is looking for an experienced Process Analyst to support a large-scale digital transformation programme within the Belgian energy sector.

The Belgian and European energy landscape is evolving rapidly due to the energy transition, the increased integration of renewable energy and the transformation of existing energy infrastructure. In this role, you will contribute to the development of sustainable, reliable and future-proof energy operations.

As a Process Analyst, you will play a key role in improving operational efficiency, process quality and digitalisation across the organisation.

You will be responsible for analysing, documenting and modelling existing business processes and defining improved future-state processes in close collaboration with business stakeholders.

You will work within a team of Business Analysts. Your main focus will be on process analysis and documentation, while the Business Analysts will translate the improved processes into functional specifications and potential IT solutions.

Business processes are modelled in Sparx Enterprise Architect, using the BPMN 2.0 methodology. You will also contribute to the further development of the process-modelling methodology and coach other analysts in applying it consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model business processes and support business stakeholders in redesigning their processes.
  • Analyse and document current as-is processes and define improved to-be processes.
  • Challenge business requirements, assumptions and proposed future-state processes.
  • Coordinate the review and validation of processes to ensure business alignment and stakeholder adoption.
  • Harmonise business processes across different departments and with an international sister organisation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the process-modelling methodology.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to ensure a smooth transition from process design to functional specifications and implementation.
  • Support business teams during the post-implementation phase.
  • Contribute to change-management activities.
  • Prepare training materials and deliver training sessions to end users.
  • Coach and support other analysts in the use of BPMN 2.0 and process-modelling standards.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Master’s degree in a technical, economic or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least five years of relevant experience as a Process Analyst.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying business needs and documenting as-is and to-be business processes.
  • Strong knowledge of BPMN 2.0 and UML.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively and question existing ways of working.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to build consensus.
  • Customer-oriented, pragmatic and flexible approach.

Languages

  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Very good command of either Dutch or French.
  • Good command of the second Belgian national language.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience with Jira and Azure DevOps.
  • Previous experience within the electricity, utilities or broader energy sector.
  • Experience working in an international or cross-border environment.
